The Intelligent Machines competence cluster plays a central role in reinforcing the business and international competitiveness of mechanical engineering companies, and in developing the strategic cooperation and internationalisation of research institutions and companies. The cluster also seeks to boost knowledge and technology transfers from research and educational institutions, and focuses on building innovative research and development environments.
The four focus areas of the Häme Region Intelligent Machines cluster are:

- Developing competencies in metal coating technologies within the technology industries
- Producing specialist vehicles
