Use of nanotechnology in the chemical industry

Kokkola focuses on nanotechnology applications for the chemical industry and other industries using chemicals, such as the mining, boat-building, packaging and wood product industries. The main objective is to promote the use of nanotechnology among companies in order to improve their competitiveness. We also strive to further the commercialisation of research outcomes and inventions in nanotechnology.

We focus particularly on metal chemicals, as well as polymers and composite materials. In addition, we actively assist enterprises in health and safety matters and technologies related to environmental protection and welfare. We transmit information to companies on legislation related to nanotechnology and chemical registration (REACH). We can work with companies in determining how production processes should be modified in order to fully utilise the opportunities offered by nanotechnology.
