Lahti Region

Lahti region hosts 10 per cent of Finland’s cleantech business operations. The European union has introduced the Lahti Science and Business Park as a model example of concrete results achieved with the help of EU funding: 170 new jobs in cleantech field, 20 new businesses and over 30 million euros worth of investments in the sector.

The Lahti Cleantech Center of Expertise will focuse especially on the strong sectors in the area: waste- and water management and material- and energy efficiency. In the start up phase is a regional project which concentrates at first on the flows of biomass, energy and construction waste and ash as well as on the development of related businesses. New business opportunities in the cleantech sector are searched also for the mechatronics sector in the area.

Examples of international activities are Lahti’s investment in funding for growth in the cleantech sector and a marketing project in Russia.
