Seinäjoki Region

In Seinäjoki there are two organisations acting as a member of Centre of Expertise Programme, The Foodwest Ltd Food Development centre of expertise and The Centre of Expertise for Intelligent Systems.

The Foodwest Ltd Food Development centre of expertise is at the forefront of turning South Ostrobothnia into an internationally attractive culinary region. To promote the food industry in the area, the centre of expertise works in close cooperation with companies, a university of applied sciences, the South Ostrobothnian University Network and other operators. The centre’s strongly business-oriented activities cover all of Finland’s food industry businesses. The centre participates in generating joint projects for the cluster. Links with other clusters are sought, particularly in the direction of the forestry, well-being and health clusters. The centre of expertise operates internationally in the Baltic region, in Russia and in Japan, generating projects and encouraging operators to take part in seminars, ventures, trade fairs and tours.

The Centre of Expertise for Intelligent Systems is specialized in developing agro-technology companies (agriculture, forestry and food engineering industries) as well as in the promotion of user-oriented innovation.

The Centre of Expertise provides agro-technology companies with customized services for the development and internationalization of their products and business operations. Furthermore, the Centre of Expertise implements training programmes, market reports and measures of internationalization based on the industry's needs. Methods of user-oriented innovation are developed to support, in particular, the R&D activities of companies. The development work is done in international cooperation, among others within the European Network of Living Labs.

The operations of the Centre of Expertise for Intelligent Systems are the responsibility of Seinäjoki Technology Centre Ltd.
