One of the centres of expertise is located in Southeast Finland. Southeast Finland Centre of Expertise is a member of three national Cluster Programmes:

Southeast Finland Centre of Expertise provides a high-level business knowledge, technological know-how and a major point of contact for SMEs in the areas of
- packaging
- composites and intelligent wood as well as forest chemistry
- fibres, energy and life cycle (enabling technologies)
- Future innovative metal products including production technology and equipments and machinery in processing industry
Southeast Finland Centre of Expertise is a gateway to Russia for both forest industry companies and partners from related sectors of industry. The location in Southeast Finland offers companies the possibility to utilise the market potential, infrastructure, labour and other advantages of the cross-border region.
Lappeenranta Innovation Ltd is the coordinator of Forest Industry Future Cluster Programme and Southeast Finland Centre of Expertise.
