Spearhead projects and regional responsibilities
• CAQH Technology and Development of Related Business
Developing the CAQH technology network (CAQH = Climate, Air Quality, Health) is the responsibility of the Kuopio Region. The objective is to utilise the top-level research and know-how available in the network in the development of the environmental technology business. The network includes, among other institutions, Academy of Finland centres of excellence and top Nordic research units in the sectors of climate, air quality and environmental health research.
• Water research and the water business
Developing the water business is the responsibility of the Oulu Region. As the core of developing expertise in the water field, a research cluster that concentrates on water and wastewater management, Cewic, is being established. The objective of its activities is to achieve rapid growth of the Finnish water business and research. The operations will generate new competitive products and concepts for customers’ needs in the area of water and wastewater management.
• Research on measuring and monitoring technology and developing the business
The research on and commercialisation of environmental monitoring technology is the responsibility of the Helsinki Region. The objective is to make the region into an EU forerunner in the environmental monitoring business and generate new commercial environmental measuring applications. The second national spearhead project of the Helsinki Region is the energy efficiency of living.
• Development and internationalisation of the business structure within the cluster
The development of the corporate structure in the environmental business is the responsibility of the Lahti Region. The fragmented business structure is developed by promoting the consolidation and internationalisation of businesses and by supporting the organic growth of businesses. The objective is to enable the generation of pioneer enterprises that utilise the international markets.
