Internationalisation

With respect to internationalisation, both commercial and research and development measures are implemented. Competence Clusters bring together enterprise groups, forge contacts (particularly with authorities’ representatives), transfer research data and promote commercialisation.

Clusters have the following duties:

  • Recognising enterprises with the potential to launch international business;
  • Cooperating with the FinNode, Finpro, Sitra and Tekes programmes;
  • Analysing enterprises’ level of motivation, product portfolio and their willingness and ability to work alone or in a group as regards internationalisation;
  • Motivating enterprises in launching international operations, by introducing financing options, helping with the planning of projects and undertakings, organising training and compiling enterprise groups;
  • Keeping enterprises informed of international trends and weak signals in their specific line of business; acting in close cooperation with network partners, research institutions and monitoring international publications;
  • Creating and utilising international networks and development platforms; In this field, a special focus area for the Competence Cluster lies in gaining expertise on how to utilise international funding channels (EU framework programmes, NICE etc).
