Pasi Hurri, President & CEO
BaseN Corporation
Pasi Hurri began his commercial career in the Technology Department of Ahlstrom Corporation in Finland. After perfecting the global telecommunications network for the company, Pasi decided to accept his new challenge to lead the Network Operations Group at EUnet Finland. EUnet was the first ISP in Finland, later becoming part of the Dutch-based KPNQwest. Pasi served in several senior management positions at KPNQwest NV, i.e. Vice President of the Engineering and Technology departments.
In 2001, Pasi, together with a powerful team of Finnish technology professionals, established BaseN Corporation. Hurri is BaseN’s current President & CEO.
Pasi had an underlying idea, that was to build a fault tolerant, yet versatile and distributed system for collecting massive amounts of data, and making it comprehensive for critical decision makers.
BaseN’s vision stems from Pasi´s military background from Finnish Air Force Communications College where he became acquainted with Clausewitz principles on the importance of having an accurate view of the situation at all times.
BaseN has developed its system for large telecom networks and has applied the same technology to the Cleantech space in order to make real time data available to millions of consumers, organizations and households in an achievable and cost efficient way. The BaseN Platform is measuring an equivalent of more than 10 million smart meters every minute and making the data available in real time. BaseN aims to be the foundation for the Smart Grid by connecting every point of energy consumption in real time.
Pasi has studied at Aalto University (Helsinki), Stanford University (USA) and Finnish Air Force Communications College.
