What we are?
Assignment of the cluster
In the future ICT will be increasingly embedded as an integral part of applications and business in various industries. The cluster’s main task is to generate new, globally competitive ICT business activity. The production of applications and services is made possible by a strong research foundation, companies that represent the global frontline and close networking between companies, research institutions and the public sector.
In the fields of research and technology, platforms, pilots and solutions all based on the latest wireless and ambient intelligent technologies are developed using Living Labs. Promoting networking between businesses in different ICT domains in order to generate product concepts and applications which are better suited to leading market needs is one of the cluster's key acitvities. The cluster establishes Living Labs in order to support the development of user-driven applications as well as to speed up business innovation and product-to-market processes. The challenges presented in business networks, productisation and commercialisation are all channeled as part of the business innovation process so as to create a better understanding of user needs and of the scope of business processes.
Ubiquitous computing (ubicomp) is a post-desktop model of human-computer interaction in which information processing has been thoroughly integrated into everyday objects and activities. In the course of ordinary activities, someone "using" ubiquitous computing engages many computational devices and systems simultaneously, and may not necessarily even be aware that they are doing so.
This paradigm is also described as pervasive computing, ambient intelligence or just ubi.
