Innovation arenas
ICT is expected to play a significant role in new business innovations and in enhancing productivity. The use of cross-sector networking, new collaborations and the handling of multiple subject areas (scientific, technological, and organisational) brings elements which are critical to competitive capacity on both a national and an international level. For new innovation topics and especially for systemic innovation activities, systematic searches for the combination of expertise and industry are necessary to constitute new multi-thematic research and development cultures.
Objectives:
1. ICT-based companies and research groups need know-how and expertise from others, from branch operations models, technology, processes and from business logistics. At the same time, ICT-based players are able to report communications about current and future information technology possibilities. The objective is to create a kind of interactive technological transfer process by generating genuine and natural conditions for the remote communication of industry know-how. Business arenas are also further researched according to the scope of the companies' operations and at the same time the needs of global multinational companies are discovered.
2. The innovation arena's activities are focused on generating new, non-biased business start-ups and on generating new conditions from multiple national spearheads, pilots schemes, as well as on accelerating the search for new innovations and cutting-edge industry spin-offs.
3. Technology brokerage activities focus on enhancing the industry and cooperation within the ubiquitous computing sector. Crucial are; the birth of new business areas, profit generation and especially products which are of interest to the international market, for which concrete benefits for the industry are properly referenced and authenticated. The refining of the main expertise is carried out in a straightforward and intensive manner depending on business sector needs. The application of ubiquitous computing intensifies product commercialisation and the companies concerned achieve a significant competitive advantage when adapting new technologies to their own business areas, from having their products scrutinised internationally. Technology brokerage activities are also related to the most interesting innovation refinery activities.
4. International cooperation
